Mai Khao sits on Phuket’s far northwest coast, close to the airport and the bridge to mainland Phang Nga. It is one of the island’s longest and least crowded beach areas, with a very different feeling from Patong, Kata or Kamala.
The area is known for long open sand, large resorts, airport convenience and a quieter northern Phuket atmosphere. It does not have the dense restaurant and shopping structure of the central west coast, but that is part of its appeal.
