Overview

Kata Noi Beach is located south of Kata Yai in Karon Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. The beach faces the Andaman Sea and is legally public, although most land access passes along resort boundaries. The bay is framed by rocky headlands at both ends.

North End (Kata Yai Side)

The northern end connects visually toward Kata Yai. Rocky areas are present near the headland and can be used for snorkeling in calm conditions. Access paths are limited and not clearly signposted.

Central Bay

The central section has the widest sandy area and the calmest swimming conditions in high season. Most beachfront land here is controlled by resorts, but the beach itself remains public. Shade is limited outside lounger zones.

South End (Rocky Headland)

The southern end is bordered by rocks and deeper water. This area can experience stronger waves and is sometimes used by surfers during the monsoon season. Longtail boats may occasionally land here.

Safety

Lifeguards patrol the beach daily during operating hours, using a flag system. Rip current risk increases during the southwest monsoon. Swimming conditions can deteriorate quickly in low season, and red flags should be strictly followed.

Seasonality

From November to April, the sea is usually calm with clear water suitable for swimming and snorkeling. From May to October, waves are larger and surf conditions form, especially near headlands. Jellyfish and Portuguese man o’ war have been reported during storm periods.

Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent in designated zones. Food and drinks are available from nearby restaurants and beach vendors. Public toilets are limited and often paid. Public showers are not consistently available.
