Surin Beach sits between Kamala and Bang Tao on Phuket’s west coast. It is known for its broad shoreline, natural setting and easy access from the main coastal road.

The beach is wide, gently curved and backed by mature trees. The water is clear in high season and the sand is fine and light in colour. Facilities are minimal, and the beach has shifted toward a natural, open style after past commercial clearances.

Surin Beach lies in Choeng Thale, Thalang District, directly off Route 4030. The beach stretches along a straight west-facing bay with a small rocky headland at each end. The sand is soft, and the nearshore water transitions quickly from shallow to deeper tones.

Swimming and safety

From December to April, conditions are generally calm with predictable waves suitable for relaxed swimming and wading near the shoreline.

From May to October, stronger surf and rip currents appear, and red flags are common. Waves break close to shore, and swimming should follow lifeguard guidance during this period.

Access and transport

The beach sits directly beside the coastal road, with multiple entry points and informal parking along the treeline. Walking access is immediate, with no steep paths or long approaches.

Public transport options are limited. The Phuket Smart Bus passes the west coast but does not stop directly on the sand, so most visitors arrive by car or motorbike.

Facilities and atmosphere

Facilities are basic: a few seasonal stalls, occasional rentals, and limited shade structures. Toilets and showers vary by season and may not always be available. The atmosphere is low-noise, open, and relaxed.

Cleanliness is highest in high season when the winds are light. After storms, natural debris and wind-driven material can gather at the high-tide line.
