Yae Beach Phuket
Overview
Yae Beach is located on Phuket’s west coast in Kamala Subdistrict, Kathu District. It is a small cove between Kalim Beach and Kamala, framed by jungle-covered granite headlands. The beach is known for its isolation and limited public access.
Beach Geometry
The beach is approximately 200–250 meters long and forms a compact headland cove. Soft golden sand covers most of the beach area, while large granite boulders define the edges. The enclosed shape shelters the bay from strong open-sea exposure.
Seabed & Reef Zone
The seabed is mixed, with rocks and sharp stones, particularly at low tide. These conditions limit comfortable swimming but contribute to clearer water. Snorkeling is possible near the rocks at the edges of the cove during calm conditions.
Seasonality
From November to April, sea conditions are generally calm, and swimming is possible with caution due to rocks. From May to October, monsoon conditions bring rougher seas, and swimming is not recommended. No confirmed data exists on rip currents or jellyfish patterns.
Safety
There are no confirmed lifeguards stationed on Yae Beach. Sharp rocks and stones pose an injury risk, especially at low tide. Visitors should use caution when entering the water and consider protective footwear.
Facilities & Services
All facilities are associated with The Naka Phuket resort. Toilets, showers, food, drinks, loungers, and towels are available to hotel guests only. There are no confirmed public facilities on the beach.
Rules & Legal Status
Yae Beach is legally a public beach under Thai law. However, land access is restricted by the Naka Phuket resort, and non-guests are frequently denied entry. Boat access from Patong or Kamala is possible.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere is quiet, exclusive, and low-density. Due to restricted access, the beach is often nearly empty, even during high season. There are no beach vendors or water sports.
